Advanced Driving CoursesTuition is available on an hourly, multiple hour or intensive basis depending upon your requirements in your own car to either Institute of Advanced Motoring (IAM) or Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) standards. You must ensure that you are fully insured and your car must have a valid tax disc and MOT test certificate where appropriate and you must produce these documents before starting the course. Without these documents I will assume your car is not road worthy. Also for the safety of us both your car must be mechanically sound. The IAM has sections for both qualified motorists and motorcyclists. The motorist section not only has details of the IAM Advanced Driving Test but also of DriveCheck which is an assessment available to anyone who is interested in safer driving but does not yet feel ready to take the IAM test. The IAM caters for all age groups with assessments for Young Drivers under 26 and DriveCheck55 for older drivers. I am a member and observer for the Dorset Group of Advanced Motorists who also run a Young Drivers group. RoSPA also has sections for both qualified drivers and riders. The drivers section has details of the Advanced Car Test and Experienced Driver Assessment for anyone who feels they would like an objective assessment of their driving skills. Improving the safety of young drivers is a key issue for RoSPA and they promote the RoSPA Young Drivers Campaign |
