About Woodlands School of Motoring

My name is Phil Woodland and I started Woodlands School of Motoring as an independent driving school in Dorchester in 1997.

The majority of my learner drivers pass their practical driving test first time because I teach them how to drive not just how to pass their test.

For this reason, I do not employ any other instructors as I prefer to ensure all my clients receive the same high level of tuition as the reputation of my driving school is very important to me.

For information on why you should choose a qualified driving instructor.

I am a fully qualified driving instructor (ADI) approved by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and undergo regular check tests to confirm the standard of my tuition.

A fully qualified ADI must display a green badge on the windscreen of the car while teaching you. Trainee driving instructors are given a trainee licence so they can get experience before their qualifying test, they must display a pink badge on the windscreen.
If your driving instructor is not displaying either a green or pink badge in their car's windscreen, ask them to show it to you. If they cannot show you their badge, you should report this to the DSA.

I am also a PASS PLUS registered instructor - something I strongly advise to all my newly qualified drivers as it not only gives them valuable additional driving experience (including motorway driving) but also a substantial discount on their insurance premiums.

As a member of the Driving Instructors Association (DIA), I have Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance.

I am also a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) and a member and observer for the Dorset Group of Advanced Motorists.
