Welcome to Woodlands School of Motoring 

Woodlands School of Motoring is an independent driving school based in Dorchester and established by Phil Woodland in 1997. I am a fully qualified Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor (Car) and do not employ any other instructors as the reputation of my driving school is very important to me.

I provide patient professional driving tuition in both Manual and Automatic dual controlled cars.


Manual tuition is provided in an air conditioned Seat Ibiza 1.9 TDi sport.

Automatic tuition is provided in a Vauxhall Corsa Club 16V easytronic.

Both cars are fitted with dual controls and have fully comprehensive insurance.

Nervous pupils are catered for - there is no strict lesson plan - you only move onto the next stage when you are fully confident.

I aim to provide a full range of courses to satisfy all your driving needs ranging from beginners to advanced and every course will be structured to your requirements.

In addition to basic driving lessons for learners (which includes theory and hazard perception training) I also offer Pass Plus, intensive courses, motorway tuition, refresher courses, driver improvement and advanced driving.

Retest courses are available for people who have failed their practical test previously with another instructor (or family member) or have had their driving licence revoked in the first 2 years.

Also if you do not live in or around Dorchester but would like to take driving lessons in the peace and quiet of the Dorset countryside, I can arrange a holiday driving course for you including local accommodation if required.
